OK, PART 3 of my ‘The 3 STEPS TO BUILDING A FABULOUS WARDROBE’ blog series.

In PART 1 we looked at ‘HOW TO BUILD A ROCK SOLID WARDROBE FOUNDATION’ – just in time for your Autumn/Winter wardrobe planning – if you missed it you can catch the whole shebang HERE

In PART 2 we put the focus on FUN – and embracing colour, texture, print and interest – if you missed that you can catch up on it HERE

But if you’re all over all of that let’s just do a little re-focus…

The 3 STEPS to building a FABULOUS WARDROBE…

1. BUILD YOUR ‘FOUNDATION’ – and make it solid as a rock…
2. ADD A BIT OF FUN ON THE SIDE – embrace colour, texture, print and interest
3. FINISH STRONG – accessorize

So today it’s all about ‘FINISHING STRONG’

What do I mean by that?

ACCESSORIES, ACCESSORIES, ACCESSORIES!!!

It doesn’t matter whether you’re…

  • an all real jewellery wearer or a lover of costume bling…
  • a scarf addict or a snood snob…
  • a one handbag for all occasions pony or a self-confessed bag lady…
  • a stiletto strutter, a flat-out flats chick or somewhere in between…

you want to make sure you think through and finish your outfit thoughtfully…

EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

WHY?

Simply put, clever use of accessories is both the best and the most cost-effective way to put YOUR stamp on your style and FINISH STRONG…

A great approach is… work towards building your own personal ‘Styling Kit’…

Did you know that Fashion Stylists who work for publication houses have a ‘styling kit’ full of accessory pieces that they add to the looks they create for shoots to put their professional stamp on their creations?

What we can learn from this is to build our own personal ‘styling kit’. Done well, it will hold you in great style stead and make finishing your outfits like a pro, easy-peasy.

HOW?

Start to build a collection of accessories… And as you do so, think about how they coordinate with one another as well as with your clothes and your personal colouring. Do this well and you will find pulling together great outfits effortless. I have included lots of TIPS on this in my eBOOK – Styling Up a Storm if you need extra help with this grab your copy HERE

THERE ARE 5 AREAS OF FOCUS IN THE PERFECT STYLING KIT

1. SCARVES

The majority of my clients LOVE, LOVE, LOVE scarves! And I do too…

Build a collection of all (or some) of the below options to add to your kit

long, short, square, woolly, silk, plain, patterned

2. BELTS

Fashion wise these come and go but this selection will see you in good style stead

skinny, standard, wide

3. HANDBAGS

I find my clients are about a 50/50 split on the handbag position… 50% stick with just one… the other half like to change it up… there is no right or wrong here… But if you want a bit of variety, here are my top 4 that will cover all the bases…

satchel, tote, crossbody, clutch

4. SHOES

I recommend having a selection of your go-to shoe styles and bags in your hair colour and the 2 neutrals you wear the most. This will provide all the options you’ll ever need – seriously!

Of course if you have a signature accent colour or print you’ll want to add that in the mix…

 flats, heels, sandals, closed, boots

5. JEWELLERY

We are all different in our jewellery loves, thank goodness! For some a little bit goes a long way…. and others a lot goes further.

My advice – ALWAYS finish your outfit with a key piece (or 5 😉 ) – simple or statement, your call…

metal, colour, real, costume, classic, unique

Take a look at how a small selection of well chosen accessories can transform a basic jeans and T-shirt outfit – AMAZING! Now imagine this outfit without any accessories… See what I’m talking about?
